A symbol of love, purity & beauty since ancient times, the true origins are unknown, however the legend says that a powerful ruler in the Roman Empire fell in love with a tall, beautiful girl in Damascus. Upon his return to the lands of the Eastern Roman Empire, he dedicated to her the most beautiful flower in his garden, the Rosa Damascena. This variety has travelled the world & found its way into India. It is grown locally in India in Kannauj & a few areas within the Himalayas. The rose water is prepared very early in the morning by harvesting the flowers while the dew drops are still fresh on the petals & the fragrance is the strongest. Our rose water comes from the Himalayan mountains at an elevation of 2000 metres ASL. The elevation creates a conducive micro-climate which results in the rose having a high oil content, in turn producing a delightful fragrance & enhanced therapeutic effects. The rose water is prepared in small batches within traditional copper alembic pots. Thousands of roses are steam distilled to create a few litres of this exquisite rose water. Daily use is recommended.
